Counter attacking

After defending for a period of time winning the ball back means a chance to counter attack. The key is to act fast. Opponents will still be in attacking positions making them vulnerable. Look for teammates in (or running into) advanced positions, with teammates ahead of them. Don't be tempted to go for long passes, it will give opponents time to get into defensive positions. Instead, pass short to advancing teammates, who can then pass the ball further forward.

In a midfield position (with teammates behind with the ball) aim to run between defending players. If a pass is made to you, you have almost beaten 2 of the opposing team. While they will turn and give chase, you are in a good position to attack with the ball.
